Knuckles the Echidna is a prominent character in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, owned by Sega. He debuted in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Initially portrayed as a rival to Sonic, Knuckles was tricked by Dr. Robotnik (later known as Dr. Eggman) into believing Sonic was a threat to the Master Emerald and his home, Angel Island.
